18th May - Officers assembled at 58th Battalion Drill Hall, Moonee Ponds and headed to Puckapunyal Camp.

9th June - Battalion Australian Rules football team won its first inter unit match against 2/8th Field Company.
Late June - Battalion inspected by Prime Minister R. G. Menzies.
August - Warrant Officers J. A. Angus, R. G. Houston, W. I. Summons and W. W. Tilney and Sergeant H. J. E. Page appointed to commissioned rank.
September - Inter Company Sport Meeting. 7th Division's Sports Meeting.
8th September - Hut A13 caught fire.
27th September - Unit dance at Hawthorn Town Hall.
17th October - Private H. R. Clark accidentally killed during training at Puckapunyal.
3rd November - Four day route march to Yea (about 74 miles), marching by night and sleeping by day in the Ghin-Ghin hills area. The return was marching by day and sleeping by night.
26th November - Start of march to Shepparton and return (141 miles) via Goulburn Valley Road to Hughes Creek.
27th November - March continued to Murchison via Nagambie. Battalion camped at Shepparton Showgrounds.
2nd December - Battalion left Shepparton for Miepoll.
3rd December - March continued to Puckapunyal via Creighton's Creek and Avenel.
5th December - Battalion arrived at Puckapunyal.
