Background : He served time working as a P.O.W. on the Death Railway in Thailand and was then shipped to Japan. Arrived in Japan 16/01/1945 aboard hellship Awa Maru. He was eventually recovered by the Allies and flew home from Manila in September 1945. His time as a P.O.W. took its toll and he died in 1975 at the age of 58.
